    Good, BUT….Please read in full to see if this equipment is right for you. (It’s more advanced than led on), September 30, 2015

    * This equipment is NOT as easy to setup in a secure fashion
    * This equipment is NOT very user friendly regarding physical installation

    With aforementioned highlights, allow me to preface those with the following description:

    Quality is indeed as advertised. 1 MP @ 720p. This means video quality is what you would see from a high end 90’s bank security camera system. For MOST people, this will be sufficient unless you require far distance detail. (Anything over 100′ )

    For distances below 100′, this system is just right for you given you can accept the other “down-sides”.

    Physical Setup:
    Package comes with 4, 100′ white Cat5e patch cables. These cables,however, do NOT meet Cat5e standards. They are equivalent to Cat3. (Twists in cable are not enough and wire thickness is also not enough to meet Cat5e). Even so, I wasn’t expecting those cables myself, so they were a bonus.

    The cameras only come with uni-directional alignment. You can only align in 1 direction, either up, or down, or left, or right. You will NOT be able to align these cameras up and down, or left and right, but rather only one direction depending on how you spin the mounting brackets that are permanently attached to the cameras. Worse, in order to align these cameras properly in 1 direction, the mounting gear provided does NOT align properly which leaves with having to loosen the camera from the mount in order to line it up evenly in the direction you prefer. This means you MUST use (at least) a silicon or similar sealant to prevent involuntary movement of the camera.

    Next, to install the cable, you must be able to splice RJ-45 ends onto the Cat5e cable. That is, unless you don’t mind drilling massive holes in the side of your house. Even if you use the cables provided, you still have to cut off one and and have the following equipment (along with the expertise to use them):
    * RJ-45 Cable Splicer
    * RJ-45 ends (at LEAST 4)
    * Cable Mounting hardware (Unless you can tuck into (snugly) vinyl siding or similar)
    * Up to 1,200′ of Cat5e patch cable (Estimated at 4 * 300′ ..The maximum specified, usable length of Cat5e cable)
    * Silicon or similar sealant to seal up holes from drilling for cable
    * Battery Powered Drill
    * Drill bit

    The Software setup:
    It comes with a pretty easy software setup, BUT… You MUST PURCHASE A SATA HARD DRIVE in order to use the DVR.
    The operating system of the DVR / Main control hub comes standard with software that, by DEFAULT, sends your DVR & Camera information to the internet. This is VERY UNSAFE. I’d highly suggest modifying your firewall to BLOCK ALL internet access to this device. If you do not have the expertise to do this yourself, HIRE someone to do it. Lest you be okay with sharing your private life on cam to China.

    The default username is Admin. The default password is *NOTHING*.. Meaning.. Null, zip, zero, zilch, blank, nothing. You MUST be proactive to change this default setting. There is another account on the device in which you CANNOT change the password. Further reason to block ALL internet access to this device.

    That said, you are NOT obligated to hook this device up to any network UNLESS you want to view cameras on other networked devices.

    WHO do I recommend this for?:
    An advanced, network savvy computer specialist or similar. OR have someone with similar skillsets to set this up for you.

    If you meet the requirements above and do NOT require anything super fancy that WILL provide surveillance, this is the BEST bang for your buck.

    I gave this product 4 stars because it is targeting an audience in which I am generally hired to assist. It’s NOT as easy or fluent as described to the audience they wish to advertise to, however, it’s perfectly fine for the aforementioned requirements I listed above.

    P.S. Notice the Q&A section is almost primarily made up of responses by the same user (which is the manufacturers username/seller account).

    not to bad – but will NOT WORK FOR ME! as i’m not ready to sacrifice the features YET, October 28, 2015

    OK my opinion is:
    this device is not perfect it does a nice job in the area of video surveillance if all you need is day video and baaaaad unusable video footage at night.
    pros:

    -price
    -the kit includes EVERYTHING
    -once connected video/recording just works! (Schedule or alert)
    -viewing/backing (footage) is super easy
    -HDD mounting could not be easier (even the screws are included)
    -inside packaging is awesome (especially the NVR)
    -email triggering works as long as you don’t use gmail (gmail sees the attempt as unsecured APP and refuses connection – got AOL worked fine)
    -disk formatting is straightforward
    -all cameras were detected quick and automatic
    -changing NVR to static IP was quick and easy
    -changing IP address of individual cameras to STATIC IP was a breeze
    -Power over Ethernet is great
    -IR is there and works well
    -mouse and remote included
    -back up is easy DVD or flash (detected my portable DVD-r and recorded fine over USB)

    the CONS:
    -don’t switch monitor display as it will never display all cameras (still records though) you can play all 4 but not one and video does NOT SHOW
    -network cables are of LOW quality
    -video loss is happening A-LOT (few seconds at the time but a-lot – cables!!!)
    -motion trigger is useless (way to sensitive – I’ve setup lowest setting and RAIN drops still triggered)
    -you will NOT be able to adjust camera angle once you mount
    -night video is unusable (it WILL NOT serve as evidence anywhere)
    -snapshot setup is a nightmare (never got it to work)
    -mobile just the same (horrible) in the crappy instructions on the CD they seem to like # 666666666
    -the NVR box is thin – HDD vibrated the entire case (good mine is above drop ceiling – so i could NOT hear it)
    -looses the hdd about 1-2 times a day (momentarily but it does)
    -no local admin (NONE – not even with software they provided) can view IE stream but can’t run headless and administer unless monitor is connected
    -haven’t even try to configure remote view as i don’t have I-Phone or Droid

    Summary:
    would it work – BIG FAT YES – if:
    1. you have to use other cables (better Q) 2. you are GOD and understand Word for Word Chinese – translation is horrible – common sense was NOT used HERE) 3. modify the mounts to make cameras work 4. you must be OK with sacrificing FEATURES that are clearly stated here.
    5. you must be able to live without the mobile/email alerts as the triggers are way to sensitive (one CAM = 29 email in 6 hr’s on lowest setting)

    gotta Return

    but if all U need is basic POE camera system that works most of the time then you might like it! (daytime Q is superb but who is going to ROB you during the day!!!!!!!)

    The instructions are in broken English and not very good. The video provided is also not very clear. THIS UNIT WILL NOT RECORD WITHOUT A HARDDRIVE. Be prepared to spend an additional 60.00- 150.00 for a hard drive. Otherwise unit performs well. And was delivered in 2 days.
