The camera’s wide angle lens and high resolution is excellent even when viewed remotely. The pan and tilt motors are quiet so the camera can be truly out of sight and out of mind. The built-in microphone picks up audio very well and the talk-back function is surprisingly clear. All in all, for a 1080p camera this is a great value and a great piece of tech.

My only one gripe is the Amcrest iPhone app. I keep having to add my camera from a list to view it when I open up the app. It doesn’t stay on the initial view for whatever reason. Maybe I’m missing something. Aside from that it is highly configurable through its built-in management software or the desktop software you can download.

In the picture is my kitchen which is dimly lit at the moment but you can still see a great amount of detail. This shot was also taken remotely. If it gets any darker, the IR takes over and would cover the room so you can still see everything in great detail.

I’ve been using this camera for almost three weeks. FYI, we have five cameras around the house, yard, etc. and use Blue Iris to monitor them all. There’s a mix of wired and wireless.

The quality of the video is phenomenal – full HD over our wireless network. The digital zoom is also amazingly good – we can zoom into the whiteboard in our home office and read it – the camera is across the room.

We use the Android app, in browser add-on/plug-in and BlueIris – depending where we are. If you use BlueIris, you can use the Amcrest setup software to find the IP address.

I used wired setup from my desktop. Worked flawlessly – you need to use the included software to search for the camera and do perform the basic configuration. The next step is installing the plugin in a browser and finishing the configuration. These steps include setting the date/time (can sync from your PC) and configuring wireless. This took all of 10 minutes from unboxing to viewing over wireless.

Of course signal strength and network activity make a big difference. I have two repeaters and the base unit for wireless. One repeater is wired directly to our Gigabit network, as is the base unit. This way we can handle a lot of traffic in the house and stream HD video from multiple cameras.

The App is handy when we’re in the yard – the camera is in the kitchen so we can point it out the window is someone is at the front door. When we’re in the house, we also point it to the living room when we’re babysitting to monitor what the kids are doing.

On the computer, the configuration program offers basic control and monitoring, but you can do a lot more using the browser based plug-in. You can also plug a card in the camera for video storage – and set alarm zones, etc. as well as record over FTP, NAS and locally.

This is one heck of a camera with a LOT of bang for the buck.

So far so good. I purchased this camera as it seemed to have all the features you want. A lot of the other cameras have some of the features or charge extra for the cloud option.

Having the free cloud access for a certain amount of time certainly made purchasing this product a no brainer over the other competitors. The main reason being if someone breaks into your house and steels the camera itself take all the evidence with them. If you have the camera recording to the cloud the chances are they are going to get recorded and will be caught even if they get the camera.

Pros: Free cloud option. FTP, Motion detection, Rotation controlled by phone, multiple apps for access within the house and via the phone network.

    Cons:
The sensitivity on the motion detection doesn’t go low enough for my needs. On the low setting it still gets triggered off by car lights shining into my house.
The wifi connectivity performed a little slow to get good stream, The wired option to the router worked a lot better.
You get buy with the Android Apps OK, but usability needs some work.

Note: Australian buyers this product will work for you as well, but you will need a power converter.
